Storytelling helps people feel seen — including yourself.

“Stories are introductions to the soul.”

There are 2 big powers of storytelling:

  1. Storytelling CONNECTS people
  2. Storytelling CHANGES people

In today’s post, I want to talk about how storytelling connects people.

Vulnerability Creates Belonging

When you share imperfect, awkward, painful or human moments:

  • People trust you
  • People relate to you
  • People feel closer to you

Perfection impresses.

Vulnerability connects.

“People connect through cracks, not polish.”

Or

“Your flaws make people lean in.”

Stories Remind People They Are Not Alone

The power is not in the dramatic event.

The power is in the shared emotion.

Not everyone:

  • lost a million dollars
  • survived an accident
  • built a company

But everyone has:

  • felt forgotten
  • felt embarrassed
  • wanted approval
  • feared rejection
  • needed help

That’s why tiny human moments matter.

“Specific stories create universal connection.”

Or

“The more personal the story, the more universal the feeling.”

Vulnerability Creates Safety

When you tell the truth about yourself:

  • others feel permission to tell the truth too

Storytelling says:

“You can stop pretending with me.”

That’s why vulnerable storytellers often become trusted people.

“Honesty gives others permission to be honest.”

Stories Deepen Relationships

Stories reveal:

  • values
  • fears
  • humor
  • wounds
  • perspective
  • humanity

People don’t truly know you through facts.

They know you through stories.

Conclusion

“Stories are how humans make meaning together.”

Tell me more stories and leave an indelible mark. Become memorable – forever.
